A Mother's Day Gift Guide

If you're in a blessed position to have a mummy, mum, mother, step-mum or a female figure in your life this Mother's Day, it can sometimes be overwhelming to find the perfect gift to show how much they mean to you.

A mummy myself now to two girls, and with a mum and mother-in-law to buy for, each year I always try to gift a present or experience depending on my budget. It's also nice to show your appreciation with something special or different. We know everyone loves flowers and chocolates but sometimes it's nice to have something different, so today I want to share with you my favourite gifts for Mother's Day.

My five favourite gift ideas for Mother's Day

1. A Mother's Day at home

I don't know about you, but it can feel like there's a lot of pressure and it often becomes more overwhelming than it should. Often we feel like we have to do something or buy the biggest and best gift but sometimes it's the small things that make those moments special.  A break from the kitchen, a home-cooked roast dinner (my favourite), handmade cards and time with my girls was the perfect Mother's Day for me last year. Sometimes it really is the simple gestures that mean the most. So could you help your mum around the house? Maybe give her a day off from the never-ending laundry and cleaning. Or let her put her feet up with a cup of tea while you make dinner.

2. A Mother's Day gift for the home

It's perhaps a more personal gift, but if you know her taste and keep to a neutral colour to complement the majority of rooms, how about gifting a mum something for her home? I've gifted myself a small patterned ginger jar over Christmas and I absolutely love it. Ceramic and hand-painted, no two are the same and in a light grey it sits comfortably in my living room or kitchen. Vases, jars, or storage boxes ... they're all a little something different as an alternative to chocolates or jewellery this Mother's Day.

3. A Mother's Day bouquet

It might just be me, but flowers are always well received. With UK Mother's Day usually arriving in March my favourite, tulips, are in season and I love the touch of spring they bring into my kitchen, you can almost feel the sunshine! If your budget can stretch a bit further, artificial flowers otherwise known as faux flowers are a beautiful longer longer-lasting gifts. You can still change them with the season and wipe them with a damp cloth to keep them looking fresh, but I personally think a bouquet that never wilts and lasts longer than a week or so is a perfect keepsake gift.

4. A Mother's Day out

If you're working to a bigger budget how about a day out? It's no secret to friends and family that my Achilles heel is afternoon tea, I love this British tradition of spending quality time together having a natter over a cup of tea and a selection of delicious sweet treats. I'm always on the lookout for something a little unique like this ballet and tea tour at the Royal Opera House or a Peter Pan themed tea at The Shard. Maybe my next post should be dedicated to my afternoon tea wish list across the UK and hope that the other half reads it!

5. Essential self-care hampers

Who doesn't enjoy a little pampering, whether it's soaking in a bath with a face mask or having a cosy movie night with candles? We all appreciate some self-care. Why not treat your mother to her favourite self-care goodies? Whether she needs a new moisturiser or simply a bath bomb for a luxurious bath experience with candles.
